Love this illustrator/designer Fontaine Anderson from Adelaide. Her pretty, cloaked, warrior type girls are so cute. She also does some other stuff, not all of which I love but defo worth a look anyways.

We Don't See Eye to Eye

Definitely my favourite of this Neil Young song, some super nice flute action. The 'She' of She & Him attempt is good but the 'Him' is pretty grating.

The First Days Of Spring

Wow. This does a few things to me. Firstly, makes me want to cry. Secondly, makes me jealous. Thirdly, inspires me. (I don't want to sound like a prick but I may as well be honest).
This film to me looks perfect, I've listened to the album and it really strikes a chord within me. The lyrics are heartfelt without the cringyness you might expect from the subjects explored.
Shot on 16mm and a Super8 in just 8 days it shows what you can do with raw talent and that spark to actually get going. I spend so much of my time thinking 'how would I do that' that by the time I would actually get round to doing it I'd be bloomin dead... I'm not sure if it's an irish thing, this smothering bloody modesty and, I guess, general lack of confidence in our own abilities? It confuses me.
Anyways, it's been forever since I've listened to an album from start to finish - shuffle is a demon, as is the way we've been conditioned to have the attention spans of fleas . But I think Noah and the Whale have thought of a perfect way to encourage their audience to do just that. By creating a visual counterpart for their album, it forces the listener/viewer to hear the music in the way they intended it. Which, these days, is kind of unusual in itself - well, that's the way I feel - do musicians think about albums as a whole/ a story anymore? It seems to have become more separate and disjointed, probably to cater to the shuffling culture and the fact that people probably won't download the whole album anyway.

Awesome. Truly AWESOME. A veritable feast for eyes and ears, seriously have never seen a sexier and more varied crowd. And the clothes, oh the clothes. London really does have an insane sense of style, especially the girls. I spent the whole day scoping out them and their outfits. I wish I had taken pictures, that is yet to come, but I was too busy having fun. Saw Peaches who ROCKED the crowd from a pink wheelcair. She really showed how the current "eccentrics" ( aka Ladee BlaBla and the like) of the music world are really just plastic commercialised copies of what really can't be created by a manager or even the artist themselves if it's not there to begin with. Hot Chip were amazing aswell - after dancing so hard at Peaches I was glad they took us down a mellow rendition of their much loved repertoire. After Chromeo, who surprised me by going heavy on the GEETARS we all rambled off for a quick spin on the waltzers (a disasterous affair - I convinced everyone to unwillingly get on with promises that our strong stomachs would OF COURSE be able to handle it and then was the one who empitied the contents of her stomach violently by the portaloos during Grace Jones - who, by the way, still looks and sounds like a goddess). All in all a wondrous event that I wish could be bottled and kept to sip when times get tough.
